Student Focus

Dear Families,

This week our school community focused on the Other People Mindset of Being Present and Giving Others My Attention. This means when we’re with other people, we’re present and give them our full attention.

This element of the Other People Mindset is so important today due to the increasing number of distractions vying for our time and attention. Phone calls, text messages, emails, social media notifications all have the dangerous capacity to pull us away from the present moment and, what’s most important – our relationships with other people.

Just like plants need sunlight to grow, our relationships need attention. If we don’t give our attention to the people we’re building relationships with – whether family members, close friends, or even distant colleagues – we can’t build those relationships. It’s vitally important that we pick our heads up from our cell phones and truly listen to other people when they’re talking. A positive culture is built on positive relationships – and we can’t build positive relationships without attention.

To practice and encourage the character strength of perspective with your child, please encourage them to be fully present when talking with you or members of your family.

Thank you!

Will You Help Feed the Candy Monster?

  • There is a CANDY MONSTER roaming the halls of Sharon Springs Central School that feeds on Candy (and possibly children, we aren’t too sure yet)!
  • You can find it in new locations throughout the building between October 2-October 27!
  • We are looking for donations of candy to help with our Trunk or Treat Event on Halloween from 5-7!
  • All donations can be placed inside the Monster’s Belly or left at the front desk.
  • We want to make sure we have enough candy for all of the little ghouls, goblins, superheroes, monsters and more who come to trunk or treat so any donations would be greatly appreciated!
  • The Sharon Springs PTO & After School Program Thank You in Advance for your continued support to our school and our community!
