Principal’s Message

We know it’s a busy time of the year with concerts, sporting events, and the holidays. This is a reminder that academics are very important too. Next Friday, December 15th marks the midpoint of the second quarter. Please use Schoology to check in on how well your child is doing and do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns.

A also want to highlight a couple of reminders:

  • With snow already on the ground, please make sure your K – 5 child has boots, hats, gloves, snow pants, and a winter jacket.
  • There are several illnesses families are reporting, so if your child is not feeling well please take them to their health care provider.
  • If your child reaches out to you while at school reporting to you that They are sick, please instruct them to go to Nurse Betsy who will contact you if they need to be picked up.

Student Focus

Dear Parents/Guardians,

This week at SSCS we focused on the Other People Mindset of Knowing That My Words and Actions Affect Others. Everything that you say and do can affect others – and your relationships with them.

Everything we do, say, text, tweet, snap, or post can positively or negatively impact other people. Our words and our actions are our choices to make, but they can have ripple effects long after we make them. Words and actions have the power to lift others up or tear them down, but, our words and actions also impact ourselves. When a group is comprised of individuals who are thoughtful about their words and actions – individuals who show respect and consideration for the people around them – we’re likely to have a happier and healthier culture.

To practice and encourage the character strength of perspective with your child, please have open and honest conversations about how you are intentional about how you communicate with others in words and actions.

Have a great weekend!

Playground Access While School Programs Are In Session

For the safety of our students, the School Playground is closed to the public during school hours 7:30AM-5:00PM Monday through Friday when school is in session. Visitor passes are available at the Front Desk upon administrative approval.

Winter Recess Preparedness

Now that our weather is colder, a reminder to K-5 parents and students to make sure they are prepared for outdoor recess time. (Snow boots, snow pants, hats, gloves/mittens and warm coats.) Please make sure your K-5 child has warm weather attire each day to go outside so they can participate in recess.
