Principal’s Message

We have reached the midpoint mark of the second quarter. With that, please check us Schoology to check your child’s grades and reach out to teachers with any questions or concerns. (If you need support accessing Schoology, please email Tom Reynolds at treynolds@sharonsprings.org).

The holiday concerts kick off tonight, Thursday December 14th, with the Middle School/High School Holiday Concert starting at 7:00pm in the Auditorium. The Elementary Holiday Concert will take place on Tuesday, December 19th at 7:00pm.

We hope many of you can join us as we get into the holiday spirit and celebrate our students’ musical accomplishments.

Student Focus

Dear Families,

This week at SSCS we focused on the character strength of self-control. Self-control means you can control your emotions and behaviors. You think before you act.

Self-control is the act of managing behavior in a way that positively influences goal attainment and living up to standards. Possessing this strength protects people from destabilizing emotional extremes. Those with self-control can limit impulsive behavior. They are able to experience and navigate difficulty while remaining poised. Self-control does not mean a lack of thoughts, feelings, or impulses; it just means you have command over them.

A group’s ability to demonstrate self-control often appears in the form of “self-monitoring.” This means the individuals demonstrate honesty with one another about successful group practices. When things are unsuccessful, group members can adjust roles in the interest of overall group success.

To practice and encourage the character strength of self-control with your child, please discuss this idea with them and provide specific examples of how you practice self-control.

Winter Recess Preparedness

Now that our weather is colder, a reminder to K-5 parents and students to make sure they are prepared for outdoor recess time. (Snow boots, snow pants, hats, gloves/mittens and warm coats.) Please make sure your K-5 child has warm weather attire each day to go outside so they can participate in recess.

Weekly Bulletin Submissions

SSCS will continue to produce this document each week as a service to the SSCS community. Similar to last year, classified ads, such as advertisements for the sale of items, help wanted ads, etc., will no longer be accepted.  Advertisements will only be accepted if it relates to a potential educational benefit for our students or it has the potential to benefit the Sharon Springs community.
