The New York State School Boards Association designated Oct. 12–16, 2026 as School Board Recognition Week, a time to promote awareness and appreciation for the important work of local school boards.
During School Board Appreciation Week, SSCS proudly honors the Sharon Springs CSD Board of Education: Helen Roberts, Sofia Issa, Brandi Kerber, Rose Chase and Patrick Yacabucci!
Scott Hubbard says it well: “[Our society] desperately needs leaders who will live for the welfare of days they’ll never see.”
School board service reflects that commitment; making thoughtful decisions today that will shape opportunities for students and strengthen our community for years to come. The full impact of that work reaches far beyond any meeting, school year, or term of service. (Of course this same impact is also less distant; it’s in the background of the smiles and success you see posted on our Facebook feed).
Thank you to our Board members for giving your time, listening, weighing difficult decisions, and keeping our students’ futures at the heart of your work. Your service helps make Sharon Springs a small school with a big heart, where students can “Believe, Belong, and Become.”
Please join us in thanking our Board of Education!
