PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Despite the unseasonably cold and rainy weather, we’ve reached the end of May, and the final stretch of the school year is officially underway.
Please remember there will be no school tomorrow, Friday, May 23rd, as we are returning a snow day.
On Monday, May 26th, we invite the community to join us on school grounds for our annual Memorial Day Chicken BBQ, hosted by the SSCS Class of 2028. This long-standing SSCS tradition is a wonderful way to honor the meaning of Memorial Day, and we’re proud to once again partner with our local American Legion. Mr. Horning and the SSCS band will lead a short parade as part of the ceremony honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.
As the weather (eventually) warms up, we kindly ask that students come to school dressed comfortably yet appropriately to maintain a focused and respectful academic environment. These final weeks are especially critical for our middle and high school students, who are preparing for final exams and Regents assessments.
Lastly, if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child(ren)’s assignments or academic progress, we encourage you to reach out directly to their teachers. Together, we share a common goal: to help all students finish the school year strong.
Finally, we deeply appreciate all of you who came out to vote on the school budget, the two proposals, and the Board of Education seat. Your continued support of our school is truly inspirational, and we take it as both a responsibility and a challenge to meet your high expectations—to provide the very best educational experience for our wonderful and supportive community. Vote results are below.
Mr. Yorke
