PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
As we return from a longer-than-normal, two-week break, it’s great to reestablish our routines and refocus on the goals of the New Year. This stretch of the school year is an especially important one. With the end of the second quarter quickly approaching, students are preparing for midterms in full-year courses, finals in half-year courses, and Regents exams. These milestones are opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning, and we encourage them to invest their time and energy into doing their very best.
At the same time, we know that success is about much more than test scores alone. As we begin 2026, we want to support our students’ whole-person development. Academic growth matters, but character development (building responsibility, perseverance, integrity, and kindness) remains at the heart of all other growth. We encourage students to set goals not only for their grades, but also for the kind of people they want to become.
With renewed routines, clear goals, and a shared commitment to growth, we look forward to a strong and meaningful start to the New Year. Let’s make the most of this important time together.

COLD WEATHER REMINDER
Winter is still here. Please be sure that elementary students come to school with proper outerwear for recess: coats, snow pants, boots. hats, and gloves are important for outdoor play. If your family is in need of cold-weather clothing, please reach out confidentially to Mrs. Keaney at mkeaney@sharonsprings.org or by calling the school. We’re happy to help.

CHANGES COMING TO THE SHARON SPRINGS FREE LIBRARY
As we say farewell to our director Meghan Keaney, we welcome back Helen Thomas as an interim director. Helen led the library from 2017 to 2023 and will return with the assistance of clerks JoAnn Fralick and Jeanne Irwin while a search is on for a permanent director.
We invite you to stop in and say hello, use the computers, check out the new books and dvds, make use of our printer, work on a puzzle, etc. If you are a Lego fan, we can use your help to build a Lego snow scene!
We look forward to providing an inviting warm space this winter and have a table of free warm clothing and blankets set up in our lobby alongside the food pantry, by the group Positive Action – Sharon Springs. We look forward to seeing you!
