SSCS FFA District 2 Leadership Contest winners, left to right, are Morgan Lynk, Madison Lynk and Bailey Puding.
Three SSCS students earned awards at the FFA District 2 Leadership Development Events held Feb. 7 at Schoharie High School.
Madison Lynk captured third place in Senior Creed Speaking in her flight and will move on to the sub-state’s competition next month. Morgan Lynk earned an Honorable Mention in Junior Creek Speaking. The FFA Creed outlines the organization’s values and beliefs regarding the industry of agriculture, FFA membership, and citizenship and patriotism.
Bailey Puding also earned an Honorable Mention in the Junior People in Agriculture category. The People in Agriculture Leadership Contest is designed to develop leadership communication skills while also providing an understanding and awareness of careers in agriculture for sixth, seventh and eighth grade members of the FFA.
The SSCS FFA would also like to thank SSCS teachers Dan Cornwell and Ruthann Galasso for volunteering as judges.
FFA Leadership Development Events feature competitions within the FFA organization where students in District 2 participate in various leadership-focused activities like public speaking, parliamentary procedure, or discussion meets. This allows FFA members to showcase their leadership skills and compete against other chapters in their district.
