Four SSCS student-athletes joined 400 of their peers from 64 area school districts at the 11th Annual Student-Athlete Leadership Conference in Cooperstown on March 5. The daylong conference entitled “Motivate From Within: Sportsmanship, Initiative and Determination” was hosted by the Cooperstown CSD at the Clark Sports Center. Attending were SSCS student-athletes Kaylee Crewell, Evani Patel, Devin Tissiere and Clayton VanPatten.
As part of the program, athletic directors and teachers from the participating schools attended professional development seminars at the National Baseball Hall of Fame, experiencing the museum’s award-winning curriculum. Included in this were SSCS Athletic Director Chris Smith and Physical Education/Health teacher Kelsey Girard.
The conference was sponsored by Central New York businesses and featured several workshops and motivational speakers including Sandy Zimmerman, former Division I basketball player for Gonzaga University and American Ninja Warrior who presented: “From Welfare to Ninja Warrior: 5 Key Ingredients to Achieving Big Dreams and Goals.”
