SSCS 10th grade students toured the Capital Region BOCES Career & Technical Education (CTE) Center’s Schoharie Campus Jan. 15 to learn about the multitude of prospective careers they could prepare for there. This field trip provided students with an opportunity to learn about the programs available to them during their junior and senior years of high school.
During the visit, students met with faculty and current CTE students from a variety of programs, even trying their hands at a few of the skills taught at BOCES. These programs cover a variety of fields including building trades, electrical, welding, heavy equipment operation, security, health care, culinary arts, technology, and more.
Principal Thomas Yorke said SSCS and the Board of Education are committed to supporting students as they explore diverse opportunities that prepare them for success after graduation. February is Career and Technical Education Month and BOCES CTE enrollment is currently underway for the 2026-27 school year.
