Members of the SSCS Student Council and National Honor Society joined forces conducting a food drive for our local food pantry and a pet supply drive for the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter in Sprakers. During December, these clubs placed large cardboard collection boxes in each homeroom and challenged the classes to compete with one another to bring in as many items as possible. The winning classes, 5th and 9th grade, were rewarded with a hot cocoa and cookie party. Last week, Student Council members delivered the items to the local food pantry and the NHS volunteered at the Ayres Animal Shelter. While at the shelter they walked the dogs, played with the cats, assembled pet treats, prepared blankets, cleaned the kitchen and delivered all of the items that were collected by SSCS students. Thank you to all who participated!
