The SSCS Math Honor Society (MHS) embarked on an incredible educational journey to Boston on April 2 to explore the sights and sounds of this historic city.
Student explored STEM and the stars at the Boston Museum of Science, an iconic institution packed with interactive exhibits spanning technology, engineering, and mathematics. There, they had the opportunity to explore immersive galleries, including the famous Theater of Electricity and the Hall of Human Life. While at the museum, they also took a journey through the cosmos at the Charles Hayden Planetarium. As the most technologically advanced digital theater in New England, the planetarium provided the students with a stunning, immersive look into the universe, blending astronomical science with breathtaking visual displays.
The day’s adventure continued aboard the famous Boston Duck Boat Tour. Riding in WW2-style amphibious landing vehicles, the students stayed dry while touring the historic streets of Boston. The guided tour rolled past iconic landmarks like the State House and Boston Common before thrillingly splashing down into the Charles River for a unique view of the city skyline. To round out the day, the group stopped at the historic Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market.
The MHS thanks teacher Dan Cornwell and bus driver Dave Hayner for guiding them on this wonderful field trip. Participating students included Ava Jump, Hailey Cashman, Joe Nedelsky and Kaylie Rechnitzer (grade 12), Kaylee Crewell, Tyler Lyon and Clayton VanPatten (grade 11), and Alyssa Smith, Elijah Lasky, Marshall Hubbel, Kaitlyn Roosevelt, Madison Lynk and Isabella Cornwell (grade 10).
