
Members of the 5th grade and high school bands perform at the 2025 elementary awards ceremony
SSCS held its year-end grades 1-5 elementary school Awards Ceremony June 10 honoring students for achievement in academics, music, attendance and citizenship. Kindergarten students will be honored at their upcoming graduation ceremony next week. Thank you to members of the fifth grade and high school bands for their musical performances.

PRESIDENT’S AWARD FOR EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding commitment to academic achievement. To be eligible, students must earn a Grade Point Average between 90-100 and receive a recommendation from their teacher. As part of the criteria, recommendations have included activities in which the student demonstrates high motivation, initiative, integrity, intellectual depth, leadership qualities and/or exceptional judgment.

SECOND GRADE SPLASH LEARN MATH AWARD
Splash Math is a K-5 website that covers all the common core standards in Math. It is set up as an interactive educational game. It challenges students to work at or above grade level providing them the confidence and skills to advance. Mrs. Larkin’s 2nd class competed in a 10 week national contest. Each week they exceeded the goal set by Splash Math. The class placed 1st in New York State out of 4869 schools and 7th nationally out of 189,537 schools.
