Siena High School Programming Challenge.

on June 15, 2021

The challenge was all remote this year with 19 schools, 60 teams, and  approximately 220 students participating. There are two divisions, Green (for less experienced teams/schools) and Gold (for more seasoned teams/schools). Each team is allowed four members. This is the first year that SSCS has offered a college in the high school computer science course, which is based on curriculum developed by Siena faculty and a consortium of area math/computer science high school teachers. This course offering made it possible to sponsor a two-person team to enter the Challenge.

This two-person team placed 7th out of 30 teams in the Green Division, an outstanding accomplishment for our first challenge, especially considering we were contending against much larger schools that have been competing for years. Out of the 7 programming challenges, four were successfully completed and a fifth, while it compiled successfully, failed due to time constraints.

Please congratulate Josh and Isabella on stepping up to the challenge and executing a stellar performance for SSCS!  Watch out next year Bethlehem, Shenendehowa, Briarcliff, and Spackenkill
