Library Instruction

Library Instruction Grades K-6:
Students receive Information Fluency Skills instruction in grades K-6 following a fixed schedule.  Grades K-3 come to library once every six-day rotation.  These students are given the opportunity to explore literature in a variety of genres and are introduced to many different authors and illustrators.  They also learn the basic skills of using a library as a resource for information.  Students in grades 4 and 5 are given instruction in information literacy every other day for one semester during the school year.  Grade 6 students further explore the inquiry process in Research and Literacy Skills class.  This class meets every other day throughout the school year and gives students opportunities to explore a variety of informational resources as they improve their research skills.
