The Tri-County Mediation Center recently provided a 2-day training to eight high school students in becoming Peer Mediators. The students spent the two days honing their listening, questioning and reflecting skills, all requisite skills to an effective Peer Mediator.
This program, headed by Mr. Scimeca, staffed and supported by Mrs. Stetin and Mrs. Handy, will allow these trained students to assist fellow students in resolving their conflicts. The program will be available to student “disputants” in grades K-12 who are involved in a conflict with another student. Referrals can be made by completing a Peer Mediation Referral form located in the Main Office.
This training opportunity was made possible using Title Grant money earmarked for “innovative programs” which was secured by School Psychologist, Ms. Alexander.
