Career Development:
During the months of November, December, and January 2nd and 3rd Graders will be receiving career development twice per month within their computer classes. They will be learning about a wide variety of careers and how their school subjects are needed to prepare for these careers.
During the months of January, February, and March 4th and 5th Graders will be receiving a similar career development program within their computer classes. If anyone has any questions about these programs or would like to see a demonstration, please contact Mrs. Stetin @ 284-2267.
During the fall and spring 7th and 8th Graders will be receiving career development from Mrs. Desmond with assistance from Mrs. Stetin within their Family and Consumer Science Class.
Students will be completing interest inventories, developing their own resumes and researching jobs on line.
Senior Meetings:
During the months of September and October Mrs. Stetin is having individual meetings with Seniors and their Parents/Guardians. We will be discussing post graduation plans. If you have not scheduled a meeting for your Senior son or daughter, please call Mrs. Stetin @ 284-2267.
EXAM NEWS:
Regents Exams will be given from January 22nd thru January 25th. If you are unsure about what exam(s) your child should be taking, please contact Mrs. Stetin @ 284-2267.
During the end of January students in grades 6-12 will have mid-term exams. They should be studying beginning several nights before each exam. Watch for the exact dates for mid-term exams in December weekly bulletins.
Research shows that students who receive at least 9 hours of sleep at night and eat a good breakfast do better on exams than students who do not.

PSAT:
The PSAT will be given on Wed. October 17, 2007 at SSCS. The fee is $13. Fee waivers are available for Juniors. This test is typically taken by college bound Juniors and some Sophomores. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Stetin at 284-2267.
College News:
| Applications are typically due in early November for early admission and December thru February for regular admission.. Students need to watch carefully to make sure they meet all deadlines. | |
| If students need letters of recommendation from the Guidance Office and or Teachers you need to ask at least 2 weeks before the letters are due. Also, make sure that you provide the Teachers with pre-addressed envelopes with the names of the colleges on them. See Mrs. Stetin if you have questions. | |
| Start filling out Scholarship applications if you have not already begun. Many scholarships go unused because students do not apply. Use the list of Scholarships and web addresses Mrs. Stetin gave you in September for resources. If you have lost your lists, see Mrs. Stetin for another copy. | |
| Financial Aid information will be available in mid November. A Financial Aid Night will be offered to Seniors and their parents/guardians in early December . Information about this will be mailed home in november. | |
| If you need assistance filling out your FAFSA form, you may contact the Financial Aid office at SUNY Cobleskill and ask for Dick Young. He makes himself available to families in Schoharie County who need help completing the FAFSA. You do not have to be attending SUNY Cobleskill to receive his help. He can be reached at 255-5623. |
